- Why No Fluoride
Fluoride is more poisonous than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. It is a waste product of the fertilizer industry, a rat poison and is used as an insecticide for ants and cockroaches. Fluoride is harmful, toxic and cumulative in its effects in our body even when ingested in small amounts. Studies have shown that fluoride can pass through the placenta.
Excessive fluoride ingestion can cause dental fluorosis, learning disabilities, vomiting, stomach cramps, nausea and skeletal fluorosis.
- Why No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Dry mouth is common in pregnant women. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a detergent and foam booster found in normal toothpaste. It can cause mouth ulcers, as it dries out the protective mucus lining in the mouth.
- Why No Saccharin
Saccharin is synthesized from coal tar. It causes bladder cancer in male rats.
During pregnancy, many women have the desire to snack on carbohydrate containing food. The bacteria will convert the starch/sugar that remains in the mouth/plaque to acids. In women with severe morning sickness, nausea and vomiting leaves stomach acids in the mouth. Acids can damage the surface of the teeth and promote tooth decay.
Pureen Maternity Toothpaste (Fluoride Free) prevents tooth decay with:
- 8% Xylitol
Xylitol is a natural sweetener.It is found in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables, including berries, corn husks and mushrooms.
Xylitol prevents tooth decay by:
- Reducing Streptococci mutans in plaque and saliva.
- Stimulating salivary flow, which increases plaque pH and neutralizes acids produced from fermentable carbohydrates in our diets. Saliva also contains minerals such as calcium and phosphate.
- Triple Calcium & Phosphate
Calcium and Phosphate ions are essential for the REMINERALIZATION of tooth enamel to protect against tooth decay. They play an important role in the development and maintenance of strong teeth.
- Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate inhibits enzymes that break down sugars into acids. It also inhibits the growth of bad breath-causing bacteria in human saliva.
Ingredients:
Calcium Carbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate Dihydrate, Purified Water, Glycerin, Hydrated Silica, Xylitol, Sorbitol, Stevia Rebaudiana, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Flavour, Cellulose gum, Tetrasodium Diphosphate, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Lactate.
Usage:
Brush at least twice a day, after meal. Recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
